Tennis Victoria supports School Sport Victoria (SSV) in the delivery of the SSV state championships and the national secondary school teams event – the Pizzey Cup. The events provide Victorian secondary school students the opportunity to represent Victoria at the School Sport Australia Championships – the Pizzey Cup.
The Pizzey Cup is a prestigious national schools tennis championships open to girls and boys aged 18 years and under. In Victoria, this means students may be in year seven through to year 12. The Pizzey Cup is conducted by SSA in partnership with Tennis Australia. The national event attracts Australian Ranking points. In addition, an 18/u singles event known as the Australia Cup, is run in conjunction with the Pizzey Cup.
SSV selects a state representative team of 8 girls and 8 boys to compete in this annual national teams event. At the conclusion of the tournament, an All Australian team is selected, based on Pizzey Cup and Australia Cup results.
Congratulations to the following players who have been selected in the 2013 Pizzey Cup team and will be competing in the School Sport Australia Championships and the Australia Cup in Adelaide from 4-12 May.
