Congratulations to our talented junior players, who all shone in a great week away on the mainland.

2015 Bendigo (VIC) Junior Open and Association Championships (JT & AMT)

Catherine Krueger claimed the Bendigo Open without losing a set as the tournament’s top seed; she also made Doubles Final.

NSW Junior State Championships (Platinum JT)

Sanyukta Singh made the Semi-Final at the NSW Junior State Championships held in Sydney, where she lost to top seed Michaela Haet in a high-quality match.

Sam Whitehead lost in the Quarter-Finals to eventual champion Aiden Vaughan (VIC) in a tightly-fought match.

Ben Barnett played in one of the matches of the tournament in the 16/U Boys Singles Consolation, where he defeated Christopher Cox, top seed for the tournament. With an AR of 233, Ben is ranked 100 places lower than Christopher (AR 133) so this was a great effort. Ben went on to contest the Consolation Final.

Olivia Maskell made Round 16 in the 16/U Girls Singles.

Tennis World Junior Hardcourt Championships (Gold JT)

Jess Fowler played remarkable tennis to win a Quarter-Final of the Tennis World JHC in Melbourne, although she had to withdraw from the Semi-Final due in part to bad-weather delays.

Thomas Hann made the Quarter-Finals.

A big “thank-you” to James Bolzonello (Tasmanian Tennis Academy) and John Playle (Hobart Tennis Academy) for supervising these trips as coach/team managers and in so doing helping to develop Tasmania’s young talent.
