11 August 2014 | Tennis Tasmania

We would like to wish a big congratulations to Tasmanian tennis stand-outs Bradley Dunn, Elliot Johnstone and Janaya Smith as they prepare themselves for the next level of development both on the tennis court and in the classroom. Each of these players have received a scholarship to play collegiate tennis in America.

Hobart resident Bradley Dunn is currently in transit on his way to Owensboro, Kentucky where he will look to have an immediate impact on the Brescia University Bearcats roster. Brescia is a private coeducational Catholic University of less than 900 students which competes in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) under the National Association of Interncollegiate Athletes (NAIA).

Burnie stand-out Elliot Johnstone is set to depart for Edinburg, Texas where he will attend The University of Texas-Pan American University (UTPA). Johnstone will compete in the extremely competitive Division 1 Western Athletic Conference or WAC. In contrast to Dunn UTPA has over 20,000 students, is a Public State University and has Bucky the Bronc as their mascot. Johnstone will look to secure his place in the roster under the highly accredited first year coach Brandon Stokes.

Rounding off the trio Kingston resident Janaya Smith has decided to take her talents to Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington under second year coach Dustin Hinson. Eastern Washington is a public University with over 12,000 students enrolled in various courses. Smith will compete in the Big Sky Conference in the nations capital where she will look to add some much needed fire power to the Eagles outfit that struggled last year in a testing season for Hinson.

Congratulations on this huge achievement guys and we look forward to tracking your results and achievements.
