Tennis Tasmania would like to congratulate eight year old Kiran Naidoo and nine year old Arwen Koesmapahlawan  for being named the Medbiank JDS Player of the Month for May and June respectively.

After two impressive titles during the month of May, it is no wonder why Kiran Naidoo was selected at the Medibank JDS Player Of the Month -May. Eight year old Kiran claimed both 9/u boys titles at the Riverside and Rosny MJDS events through his stellar play and commitment throughout the MJDS series. Like Arwen, Kiran is bursting onto the tournament scene in only his first year of regular tournament play. Kiran’s coach James Bolzonello described Kiran as a very enthusiastic player who is immensely talented. Other notable performers during this month included Arwen Koesmapahlwan and Rebecca Flinn. Sticking with the young gun theme nine year old Arwen Koesmapahlawan, a nine year old from Riverside was selected from her impressive performances during the Glenorchy and LTA Wimbledon MJDS events. Arwen claimed her first title at Glenorchy after battling it out against her older, more experienced opponents. In one of the matches of the tournament Arwen dropping a tense three set marathon against Oliver Kelly in the 9/11 mixed singles event. Most impressive was Arwen’s second title she claimed at the recently completed LTA Wimbledon MJDS event where she steam-rolled her opposition, cruising to four straight victories. In her first year of playing all the MJDS and rankings events Arwen is really taking the tournaments by storm with her unmatched enthusiasm and fighting attitude. Other notable performers throughout June were William Gibson and Samuel Edgar. For claiming this June Medibank JDS Player of the Month Award Arwen will receive a $100 Stringlab voucher which will no doubt be used to further her tennis career.
