The summer ahead promises some sizzling action on courts around the country, and in Tasmania we see all regions of the state hosting major tennis events. Be sure to rally your support and turn out to watch the players battle against each other and the elements, as they hit courts in Launceston, Burnie and Hobart over the coming months.

If this season doesn’t inspire you…I am not sure what will!! Most of us will be pining to get out on the court to see if we can emulate some of the talented exchanges we witness during the Pro Tour events, the Hobart International, the Australian Seniors Championships, and last but not least, the Federation Cup tie between Australia and Russia.

What a fabulous platform to springboard some contests on your own courts therefore! Why not capitalise on the excitement, and get to work on hosting your own Club Championships? Club events such as these create important opportunities for players of all ages and standards within your club, to try their skills in some friendly combat! Gaining match experience is a critical part of every player’s development , regardless of standard or aspiration.

If your club plans to host championships in 2014, would you please let me know the proposed dates so that we can blend them into the overall tennis calendar for 2014. We will happily work with you to ensure the interest is ignited and participation is boosted. Further, clubs hosting their own championships will earn valuable points towards our 2014 Inaugural Club Leader Board challenge, and hence be in the running for prizes and awards.
