St John’s Catholic Tennis Club – Founded 1937
We are located in Heidelberg, Victoria Australia.
Our club house and courts are at the rear of the St John’s Catholic Church, Cape St, Heidelberg.
St John’s Catholic Tennis Club (SJCTC) is part of the parish complex of St John’s Heidelberg located on the corner of Yarra and Cape Streets, Heidelberg. This complex embraces the historic St John’s Church (established in 1853) and Presbytery and St John’s Primary School. Access to the club is via the car park in Yarra Street next to the Presbytery or, for night tennis, cars can enter from Cape Street using the entrance to the Church and school.
The tennis club dates from 1937 and has 3 synthetic turf courts, all with lights. Construction of the clubrooms and replacement of the en-tou-cas courts are some of the recent developments at the club.
SJCTC participates in the local NENTG, HDTA, DVTA and NEJTA tennis associations and groups. In the various night competitions the club has Veterans, Mens, Womens and Mixed teams. During the midweek there are ladies and senior veterans teams playing in competitions. There is also a number of boys and girls teams playing in Friday and Saturday junior competitions. Sunday mornings cater for social tennis from 8am.
