Sydney Indigenous Tennis Program

The Sydney Indigenous Tennis Program (SITP) will promote and encourage healthy lifestyles for Indigenous people through tennis. We hope that by providing positive Indigenous role models the SITP will foster a kinship between young and old, teachers and students alike. We want to boost self-esteem and confidence through physical activity and we want to provide free access to tennis for members of the community who may not otherwise be able to afford it.

The SITP comprises three elements:

  • Free after-school tennis lessons and tennis camps for Indigenous children & youth who reside in and around the inner-city communities of Sydney
  • Training of Indigenous youth & adult tennis players as tennis coaches through Tennis Australia’s internationally recognised certification programs
  • Employment of Indigenous people as tennis coaches
