First time ATL team the Prospect Flames ladies have started their ATL season in outstanding fashion with a four rubber to two win over fellow first time South Australian team, the Kensington Wildcats. The match look to be very even on paper with all four singles matches hard to pick a winner however it was Prospect who managed to win all four singles to get out to an unassailable lead. Flames number one player Jennifer Elie was super impressive aginst Wildcat number one Nicole Collie while youngsters Olivia Ley and Amber Marshall also had impressive wins.

In the ladies matches between the Tasmanian Devils and Western Wildlings it was the Wildlings who were too strong with a five rubber to one win. Jess Moore was too good at number one singles for Devils opponent Jess Zaviacic and Wildlings Maddison Inglis and Anja Dokic also notched up straight sets wins. Devils number three Gabriella Sprague was the only member of her team to win singles with a tough three sets win over Wildling Shona Lee.

In the Men’s competition, NETA had a very impressive win over fellow South Australia team The Drive, the Knights got the start they needed with Brad Mousley winning a tricky match over Ryan Agar and Darren Polkinghorne winning comfortably over Scott Robertson at second single. The Drive’s Paul Kramberger got his team on the board with a strong staright sets win over Damian Farinola.

Going into the doubles with a 3-1 lead, NETA were able to take out the match when they paired dynamic combination Polkinghorne and Farinola at second double where they had a comfortable straight sets win over Robertson and Kramberger.

In the men’s match between the Wildlings and the Devils the Wildlings proved too strong with an important five rubbers to one win. Harry Bourchier got the Devils off to a good start at number one single however his teammates were not able to follow his lead as they all went down. Wildlings Joel Pleydell and Brenton Bacon both had comfortable straight sets win which will build their confidence for today matches at Kensington Lawn Tennis Club.
