In each newsletter, the Clubs and Community Tennis Team at Tennis SA will deliver information, resources and reminders for you, our affiliates, to ensure you are well-run, efficient and provide a setting where quality volunteers and coaches work side by side to coordinate a safe and welcoming tennis environment.

For this edition, we ask you to consider the very basics in terms of setting up your organisation to be well managed.

  • Is your organisation incorporated?
  • Do you have a risk management policy?
  • Are you affiliated with Tennis SA?
  • Do you have a constitution? Do you also have regulations or by-laws? Have these been reviewed and updated within the past 3 years? Do you have a properly elected and functioning Committee?
  • Do you have a Strategic Plan? Do you have an Operations or Business Plan?
  • Do you have a budget that is agreed to by the Committee? Is this reviewed at least twice throughout the year/season?

These points relate to the best practice governance of your organisation and will allow you to operate efficiently and with low risk. A well run club is attractive to new members and better equipped to retain existing ones, it will support your growth and development and funding agencies, potential sponsors and government always look favourably to well managed organisations.

Tennis SA can provide assistance, resources and templates. We also recommend that you sign up to the STARCLUB. STARCLUB is an online assessment tool that will ask you these questions and also provide resources and templates.
