It was another day of top weather conditions at the 2015 Nyrstar Port Pirie Tennis International yesterday. Round one of the main draw was completed  with some sensational tennis played.

In the Women’s sixth seed  Jessica Moore (AUS) defeated qualifier Nagi Hanatani (JPN) 6-2 6-1. While Junior Pricilla Hon (AUS) was in top form upsetting second seed Miharu Imanishi (JPN) 6-3 6-2.  Angelique Svinos also won 6-2 7-6  keeping the Australian field well alive against fellow Australian Isabella Holland.

In the Men’s, top seeds seemed untroubled in the first round with Third seed Matt Reid (AUS) defeating qualifier Harrison Lombe (AUS) 6-2 6-3, fourth seed Gavin Van Peperzeel (AUS) winning in straight sets against strong opponent Carsten Ball (AUS) 6-3 7-6 and number one seed Brydan Klein (GBR) beating qualifier Ken Onishi (JPN) 6-3 6-2.The upset of the day came when Harry Bouchier (AUS) defeated number two seed Maverick Banes (AUS) 7-6 7-5  in a well contested battle between the two.

In the Doubles Aussie Jess Moore made it two for two with partner Abbie Myers (AUS) defeating Tammi Patterson (AUS) & Sandra Zaniewska (POL) 6-4 6-0. While in the Men’s South Aussie Darren Polkinghorne & Scott Poudziunas (AUS) went down in straight sets to Aussie pairing Thomas Fancutt & Mitchell Harper 6-3 6-1.

Day 3 of Main Draw action will be headlined by fifteen Aussies, including sixth seed Jessica Moore, Third seed Matt Reid, fifth seed Matthew Barton and South Aussies Daniel Hobart and Darren Polkinghorne.  Doubles Semi Finals to be played late in the afternoon.

Matches are scheduled to begin at 11:00am today.
