Sunday saw the 2015 Clare Valley Tennis International singles final played in perfect conditions at Clare Tennis Club.

The finalists had been decided on a blustery semi-final day, with No.1 seed Su Jeong Jang (KOR) defeating qualifier Jennifer Elie (USA) 6-2 6-1 and seventh seed Pia Konig (AUT) defeating eighth seed Yan Wang (CHN) in a tight match 6-3 1-6 6-3.

In an entertaining final, Jang raced to the lead taking the first set six games to three. Konig fought hard however Jang was just too strong and consistent, winning the championship in straight sets, 6-3 6-3.

“After nine days of play, it was great to have such a fantastic final between Su Jeong and Pia,” said Breanna Hassam, 2015 Clare Valley Tennis International Tournament Director.

“Our congratulations to the staff and officials who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to put this event together. To create an event of this standard in its first year is simply an outstanding achievement,” added Hassam.

The doubles draw has also come to a conclusion with the final played in front of a great crowd late on Friday afternoon. In a high quality affair, Australian Jessica Moore and partner Jennifer Elie took home the title, defeating the second seeded Japanese pairing of Mana Ayukawa and Kotomi Takahata 4-6 6-2 10-8.
