Successful Day and Entertaining Tennis

The Peake Gardens Riverside Medibank Junior Development Series (MJDS) Tournament was held on Friday 18 July.

Wet courts were a problem at the start of the day, however the players were kept entertained with fun activities while the courts dried ready for play. Once matches started, the day was extremely successful with some very entertaining tennis around the courts.

In an exciting inclusion to this event, Larni and Ben from Medibank, as well as Matt from local tennis store Racquets and Strings, were on hand with prizes and giveaways for children.

Next on the MJDS calendar is the Little Masters MJDS. This tournament will be held over two weekends on 23 to 24 and 30 to 31 August. Online entry is now available at Tennis Australia Tournaments.

Whilst the tournaments do not hold Australian Ranking points, they add a crucial step in the tournament pathway for children looking to be involved in tournament play. MJDS tournaments have a strong focus on participation, with multiple playing opportunities for each child and the use of modified equipment.

11/u players will use 75% compression Hot Shots Green Balls, whilst 9/u players will use the 50% compression Hot Shots Orange Balls.

Players are encouraged to contact the relevant Tournament Director or visit the Tennis Australia Tournaments website for online entry or the Tennis SA Tournaments page for manual entry.
