If you love tennis, want to make new friends, and contribute to the growth of Australia’s favourite sport, then chances are you already have what it takes to become a tennis official.

How do I become an official?

Becoming a tennis official is easy, just follow these four steps.

Step 1

Contact Tennis Australia to register your interest:

Step 2

Register and attend a tennis officiating course.

Step 3

Gain practical on-court experience in your home state or territory competitions.

Step 4

Make the most of incredible opportunities at world-class events, such as the Australian Open.

What roles are there?

Tennis officials include:

  • linespeople
  • chair umpires
  • court supervisors
  • referees
  • chief of officials.

Officials Pathway

Tennis Australia is the only authorised organisation that can accredit tennis officials through the Australian Sports Commission’s National Officiating Accreditation Scheme (NOAS).

The following pathway shows the progression from the introduction to officiation to Grand Slam level.
