Queenslander John-Patrick Smith has sealed his spot in the main draw of the US Open with a commanding victory in the final round of qualifying on Friday.

Smith beat Guilherme Clezar 6-3 6-3 whilst fellow Aussie Matt Ebden won 6-3 6-3 in 91 minutes against Great Britain’s Brydan Klein.

Their victories mean there are now nine Aussie men in the main draw of the year’s final Grand Slam event.
