Long serving former administrator of Tennis Queensland (TQ) and Brisbane Night Tennis Association (BNTA), Colin ‘Col’ Blatch passed away peacefully in his sleep aged 90 (29 July 1924 – 8 June 2015).

Joining BNTA’s Executive Committee in 1956, Col remained an active volunteer with the Association for more than 40 years. During this time he played an integral role in the organisation of fixtures and social events including Thursday Promotions Nights at the Milton Tennis Centre. His contributions assisted BNTA in becoming the largest fixture Association in Queensland during the late 80’s.

Col became involved in Tennis Queensland’s Council as a Delegate in 1971 and by 1977 was appointed Honorary Assistant Secretary and remained in that role for more than 15 years.

Well respected amongst the tennis community Col was awarded numerous accolades including Honorary Life Membership to TQ, BNTA and UQ Tennis Club in recognition for his service to the sport.

Col’s funeral was held in Hervey Bay on Friday 12 June.
