Kalynda Chase Cavaliers have defended the North Tennis League (NTL) title at the finals on Saturday against the home team, McGrath Tennis Townsville Thunder.

The Cavaliers took the lead from the start winning crucial points in both the opening doubles rubbers. The men’s doubles was won off a sudden death point in the tiebreak. It was a similar scenario in the women’s doubles match, with Thunder eventually going down 8-10 in a super tiebreak. The team continued their impressive form and went to defend back-to-back titles 8-2.

In the play-off for third place, the Burdekin Barras proved too strong with a 6-4 win over the Mackay Magic and Wests Magpies finished the competition in fifth with a 6-4 win over the North West Heat.
