Reigning US Open junior champion, Jarmere Jenkins overcame Australian teenager Omar Jasika in a tense final to claim the Cairns Tennis International Pro Tour event 3-6 6-4 6-4.

Japanese competitor Ayaka Okuno (pictured) won the women’s singles event and her first title defeating Ellen Allgurin (SWE) 6-1 7-5.

Jarmere Jenkins (USA) sealed his second successive Futures Tournament victory with a 6-3, 7-5 win over number one seed Luke Saville (AUS) at 2014 Hutchinson Builders Toowoomba International.

Ellen Allgurin (SWE) was looking for a win in the women’s draw after finishing second the week prior in Cairns. Allgurin was up against fourth seed Jessica Moore (AUS) in the final, triumphing 6-1 6-3 to win her second ITF title.

Another highlight from the event came from three Players with an Intellectual Disability (PWID) who were treated to a VIP experience. Mitchell James (Brisbane), Archie Graham (Ipswich) and Chloe Johnston (Gold Coast) had the opportunity to train with the State Coach for PWID Alison Scott, watch matches from the Player’s Lounge and even jumped on court to have a hit with tennis player Priscilla Hon.
