Profile

Ben Mitchell started 2010 in fine style, demolishing world No.1 Daniel Berta 6-2 6-1 in the third round of the Australian Open juniors on his way to a quarterfinal showing. He also spent time during the Australian Open hitting with Spanish star Rafael Nadal, but admitted “I was just concentrating so much on getting the ball back”.

In December 2009 he was runner-up at the Optus 18s Australian Championships, losing to close friend and No.1 seed Jason Kubler in the final.

Between matches Ben likes to clear his mind and get away from tennis by “going to a movie or spending time with friends”.

The Queenslander is a big fan of the Rocky movies and likes to listen to the Kings of Leon. A member of the elite AIS Pro Tour Program, he is the brother of Home and Away star Luke Mitchell.
