Starting tennis at the age of seven, Anna Wishink picked up the game at primary school. She says her strong, competitive nature, serve and mental toughness are her greatest assets.
From late 2004 to early 2005 she was unable to play tennis due to stress fractures but came back in 2005 to win the 16/u Optus Claycourts.
The win made her Tasmania’s first national champion for more than 20 years. The daughter of Ann, a nurse, and Theo, a builder, Anna has a brother, Jethro, 22, and a twin sister, Laura.
Her coach, Simon Youl, and her Mum are the people who have influenced her career the most. Her favourite tournament is Hobart because she enjoys playing in front of her local crowd.
