We have had a visit from the son of a former Life member. Douglas Coates stopped by the club to present us with the Life membership medallion of his father.
Mr R. J. Coats was Treasurer of the club from 1943 to 1949.He was men’s singles champion in 1947, men’s doubles champion in 1941, 1946 and 1947 and mixed doubles champion in 1941,1946 and 1947.
He was made a life member in 1949.
It was lovely to have Douglas visit us and the club presented him with a set of Centanary wine glasses and a club history. We have invited him to come and play social tennis whenever he is in Melbourne.
