Changes to Regulations About Working with Children in NSW

Changes to Regulations About Working with Children in NSW

As from 1 May 2009, self employed people over 18 years of age, who are in child-related employment are required to apply for a certificate to show that they do not have a criminal record that makes them a prohibited person. The certificate will be current for three years.

Who is self employed: Self-employment is where a person works for themselves rather than someone else or a company that they do not own. In a tennis environment this new regulation predominantly relates to contract coaches.

Self employed people MUST obtain a ‘Child Related Employment Certificate' issued by the Commission for Children and Young People. Penalties of up to $2, 200 apply if you fail to provide this certification.

To obtain your certification or for further information please click here: http://www.kids.nsw.gov.au/

Ball price increase

Ball price increase

Leisure Link, the exclusive distributors of HEAD tennis balls and equipment throughout Australia has been forced to raise the price of all HEAD tennis balls in response to the plummeting value of the Australian dollar against the US dollar. Leisure Link's National Sales Manager, Martin Leo indicated "Leisure Link could not absorb the 30% drop in the value of the Australian dollar any longer, however, the increases are on average only 10% and Tennis NSW's Member Discount Ball Program still represented outstanding value"

Tennis NSW's General Manager, David Eland said "that whilst any price increase is regrettable he appreciates Leisure Link's situation and expects tennis clubs will as well. At the new price of $28 a dozen the HEAD ATP still represents outstanding value

The price increases are effective March 1. Click here for the HEAD Ball order form
