Round 6 saw the beginning of the reverse matches in the People’s Choice Metro League home and away season.

Tennis Palmerston 1 (3-7-60) def AWOF Sports 1 (3-6-46)
A close match that saw Tennis Palmerston 1 victorious after a count back on sets won after both teams won three rubbers each. Liam Franklin and Lauren Riggall held onto a crucial win for AWOF Sports 1 in the #2 doubles defeating Dan Muser and Lara Stoll 6-2 3-6 14-12.

Tennis Palmerston 2 (4-8-71) def Gardens Tennis 2 (2-7-74)
Both teams overcame the challenge of playing singles before doubles, however it was Tennis Palmerston 2 who took the majority of the spoils from the singles with the three wins all coming in match tie-breakers. Ethan Prosser came from a set down in the #3 singles to overcome Clare Beacham 2-6 6-2 10-8.

AWOF Sports 2 (0-0-6) lost to Gardens Tennis 1 (6-12-73)
In an almost faultless performance Gardens Tennis lost only six on their way to victory at AWOF Sports. Naomi Fellows and Peter Stevens came close to dropping a set in the #2 doubles, eventually taking out the match 7-5 6-0 over Marlon Saunders and Jett Leong.

People’s Choice Metro League Player of the Year still remains with Naomi Fellows (GT1) who has opened up her lead to 9 points over her fellow team-mates Harry Lee-Schell and Ben McLachlan.

People’s Choice Junior League

Gardens Tennis 2 (4-8-38) def AWOF Sports 2 (2-4-21)
The top team continue their winning form with a four rubbers to two victory of AWOF Sports 2. Kyle O’Donoghue-Ellis and Arkie Feehan didn’t have it all their own way in the #1 doubles with Katie Riggall and Maya Kruger extending them to a tie-break in the first set. However, the boys overcame the girls in the second set for the win; 4-3 4-0.

AWOF Sports 1 (1-2-15) lost to Gardens Tennis 1 (5-10-42)
Gardens Tennis 1 remain in second place on the People’s Choice Junior League ladder after a convincing five rubbers to one win. Aditya Aiyappan was the saving grace for AWOF Sports, after he secured victory in the #3 singles 4-0 4-2 over Jemima Torres.
