Tournaments are divided into several different categories of events:
Australia Money Tournaments (AMTs) are positioned just below the ITF Open Pro Tour events. For 2010 there have been significant changes to the classifications of Australian Ranking point tournaments. There are now five levels of AMTs (which now incorporate National Open Tournaments) white, bronze, silver, gold and platinum. The number of Australian Ranking points and prize money available are based on the level of the tournament. More information about the levels can be found in the Tournament Calendar.
International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Junior Circuit consists of over 300 tournaments in 115 countries for players 18 years and under. Entries to these events are through Tennis Australia only. All tournaments are graded according to the strength of entry from A (the Grand Slam juniors) down to Grade 5.
National Junior Championships are held throughout the year and throughout the country. Entries into National Junior Championships events are based on rankings and are limited sized events.
Visit theOptus Junior Tour ITF section for all the latest information on ITF Junior and Nationals Events, including Acceptances, Entry/Fact Sheets and Results.
Optus Junior Tour events (OJT’s) have also been separated into five levels of events white, bronze, silver, gold and platinum. Across Australia OJT’s are conducted for players (boys and girls) in age groups 16/u, 14/u and 12/u (18/u events do not carry Australian Ranking points). All OJT’s in these age groups carry Australian Ranking points depending on level of tournament sanctioning. Entry is open to all juniors subject to the rules and regulations governing each tournament. To register for an OJT please click here.
The Junior Development Series (JDS) is a series of introductory tournaments aimed for beginner to intermediate players aged 12/u across our state and regions of Australia. The JDS tournaments do not offer Australian Ranking points and are played in a round-robin format to maintain a development focus. More information about the Junior Development Series can be found in the Tournament Calendar.
This is a follow on from the MLC Tennis Hot Shots Program and aims to provide participants with their first opportunity to compete within a competition environment where fun and participation are the key objective.
