Associate Director of Infront Sports & Media, the world renowned sports marketing firm, and former Commercial Director of the Lawn Tennis Association, Lawrence Robertson is set to take the role of Tennis NSW Chief Executive Officer and Apia International Sydney Tournament Director.

Mr Robertson was officially appointed by the Tennis NSW Board of Directors following a thorough recruitment process, replacing Alistair MacDonald who announced his resignation at the end of last year.

Commenting on the new appointment, Tennis NSW President Gregory Doyle is excited for the future of tennis in NSW under Mr Robertson’s direction.

“Lawrence brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience that spans over 20 years’ in the sports industry,” Mr Doyle said.

“He has a diverse skillset with specialist fields in commercial leadership, marketing communications and strategic growth, and will be instrumental in the continued development of the organisation as well as driving our values of ‘excellence’, ‘humility’, ‘loyalty’ and ‘teamwork’.

“In his dual role, Lawrence will be responsible for growing the business and tennis in NSW. His primary focus areas will be on grassroots and facility development, financial sustainability, stakeholder communication, government relations and building on our major event, the Apia International Sydney. His global experience, and in particular his time with the LTA, will help support our long-term vision for Tennis NSW.”

With a background in tennis, major events and sports marketing, Mr Robertson welcomes the new found opportunities and challenges offered in his appointed role and is looking forward to working across all sectors of the sport, from supporting grassroots and community tennis, through to delivering a world class, well supported Emirates AO series event.

“I’m delighted and honoured to be chosen by the Board of Tennis NSW and Tennis Australia as the next CEO of Tennis NSW,” Mr Robertson said.

“In all of my conversations with both organisations, I have been struck by the passion, commitment and focus both parties have on achieving their goals and I look forward to working with them and leading the teams towards achieving these in the months and years ahead.”

Currently residing in Singapore, Mr Robertson will relocate to Sydney to start his new role in the coming months.
