Australian greats Lleyton Hewitt and Wally Masur will serve as team captains for FAST4 Showdown AUS v WORLD, with world renowned DJ’s the Stafford Brothers set to entertain the crowd at the International Convention Centre Sydney Theatre on Monday 9 January 2017.

Hewitt, who has faced both Roger Federer (SUI) and Rafael Nadal (ESP) in FAST4 Tennis events in Sydney, will guide team Australia’s Nick Kyrgios (ACT) and Bernard Tomic (Qld) while Masur will take the reins with team World’s Nadal and Kei Nishikori (JPN).

“It’s great to be part of FAST4 Tennis in Sydney again,” Hewitt said.

“I know the challenges that come with adapting to the quicker style of play and rule changes. Nick has obviously played FAST4 Tennis before but it will be Bernard’s first time so I’m sure we can give him a few tips before he goes out there.

“It’s such a fun and exciting event to play in, the atmosphere is something else and I’m looking forward to helping the Aussie team out where I can and making sure both they and the crowd have an incredible night.”

Masur and Nishikori will be FAST4 Tennis debutants, with Nadal returning for the world team that went down to Australia in January this year.

“I’m looking forward to participating in the FAST4 Showdown AUS v WORLD event as the captain of the World team,” Masur said.

“Nadal and Nishikori are both world class athletes and tennis players and it will be an honour to captain them. I’ll be immersing myself in the culture of Spain and Japan over the next few weeks!”

The Stafford Brothers, made up of Gold Coast DJ brothers Chris and Matt, will keep the crowd entertained between the tennis with a special set from 6.30 pm ahead of the first match, as well during breaks in play.

“We had an awesome time this year and we’re stoked to be part of the FAST4 Tennis night again in January,” Chris said.

“We’re there to get the crowd ready and pumped and if it’s anything like this year’s event it’s going to be an awesome night.”

FAST4 Showdown AUS v WORLD will take place on Monday 9 January 2017 at the International Convention Centre, Darling Harbour, with the NSW Government’s tourism and major event’s agency Destination NSW as strategic partner.
