Meriden School has claimed their sixth title at the National Schools Tennis Challenge with victory over WA’s Applecross School in Albury.

Meriden Blue team had a clean sweep in the singles matches at the three-day event, with wins to Violet Apisah, Ivana Popovic, Patricia Apisah and Jessica Stanmore.

The victory in the National Challenge gives Meriden the right to represent Australia at the 2017 World Schools Tennis Championship which will be held in Brazil. This event showcases the best young players from around the world. Meriden has represented Australia three times at this international event and won the gold medal in 2015.

In the boys event, McDonald College finished third after losing their semi-final by just a single game to eventual champions Maribyrnong Sports College.
