Sydney Championships wrap up

The Sydney Open Championships Gold AMT, 4th-7th July, was a great success after some tough weather conditions upset the schedule on three of the four days of the event. The tournament managed to complete all events to the delight of all players, parents and tournament staff.

Results

Men’s Singles: Nick Lindahl d. Adam Feeney 6-4 3-2 ret.

Women’s Singles: Danielle Wagland d. Nicole Hoynaski 3-6 7-5 6-4

Men’s Doubles: Ben Wagland and Jonathon Cooper d. Aaron Clissold and Cormac Clissold 6-1 6-4

Women’s Doubles: Sonja Balic and Alexandra Osbourne d. Shannon Clear and Laura Kent 7-6(4)  6-3

It was a great start to the Sydney Junior Championships Gold OJT, 8th-12th July, with fine weather allowing the tournament schedule to remain uninterrupted for the first two days of the event. After some long days and late nights due to rain delays on days three and four of the tournament, we managed to get through the schedule ready for finals day.

Luckily, most main draw singles events were completed before rain, again, ruined the parade on finals day and play had to be abandoned at 5pm before doubles finals could go to court. We thank all players and parents for their patience on finals day and trust, even though we could not complete the event, you all enjoyed your time at the tournament.
