A recent review of the Medibank Junior Development Series (MJDS) by Tennis NSW Tournaments and Competitions team has seen a positive increase in participation numbers across all age groups in Metropolitan Sydney.
Now a nation wide series NSW holds the most number of events across the country. The tournament structure has had a extensive history within NSW from our partnership with Medibank.
Tennis NSW Tournaments and Competitions Coordinator Susan Harris explains, “Across the board participation numbers have increased from 10/U right through to 16/U. It is great to see that more kids than ever are enjoying playing tennis in NSW”.
From 2011 to 2012 participation has increased from 282 to 514 players, more importantly the number of events has increased from 3 to 8 in each age group.
Next month the Metropolitan Sydney region will host their Champion of Champions event which will then culminate into the MJDS State Final in October.
