Facility Owners & Operators Forum

As part of the 2011 Medibank International Sydney, Tennis NSW held the inaugural Facility Owners and Operators Forum. It was a successful and well attended day with over 70 delegates in attendance from 20 Local Government Authorities, 27 operators and 1 State government office (ACT Government).

Presenters were brought in from the tennis industry, Council, Tennis Australia and Tennis NSW and the format worked well in that it provided a mix of facts and figures collected through research and field experiences.  Feedback received on the day and in the days since was very positive and participants were anxious to receive further information which is a positive sign that the Councils and Operators will look to do some strategic and focused planning with the tennis facilities in their regions.

Topics discussed on the day included

  • The Impact of Tennis Australia’s Community Programs on Grass roots Tennis
  • Delivering Tennis to the Community
  • Court Building and Maintenance/Project Management
  • Overview of TNSW State Masterplan for Facilities
  • Councils Working with Clubs
  • Club Health Checks
  • Management Models and Leases

Some highlights from the day can be seen on the video clip below. In addition participants have been sent a condensed version of the slide shows presented on the day and notes on the round table discussions on management models and leases.
