THE NEXT GENERATION

It’s been a while since poetry has graced this special day

but I thought I’d give it one more go, there’s quite a bit to say

So it’s down to business everyone, my purpose here & now

is to say the new committee has begun with quite a wow!

There’s a logo done with artwork & a website now to share

your stories, pics and other stuff, I wonder if you dare

Miche taking all those photos, some good, some bad, some not

so you’ve got to keep an eye out….or she’ll catch you on the spot

The first luncheon they presented was really quite a hoot

drinks offered on arrival…then a fashion show to boot

& they made us do things differently, it took a while for some

to see it’s just the changing times…the way to get things done

Why…there’s no more paper score cards sent through snail mail any more

it’s mobile phones and Internet…is this better than before?

& at first there was some protest, like, “I don’t know how it’s done”

Or…”do I have to do this? I don’t want to be the one!”

But of course when there are changes, it can test the tried & true

so it’s change or standstill these days, guess it’s what we need to do

though most teams have now adjusted, to this forward thinking way

for some it’s still a question…what’s the Internet they say???

The old ways were so comfortable, the proof of time withstood

& now a years gone much too fast with changes for the good

though the older generation were the ones to protest most,

well….now that they’ve embraced it…why…that papermails a ghost.

This committee has called for all of us…to keep up with the times,

& it’s alright for those Youngsters out there…ripe and in their prime,

but what about us oldies, our hearts should fill with fear,

for I’m fearful of changes they might have lined up for next year!

But they now should take some credit…for smoothing out the path,

it took some tweaking here & there, & often with a laugh

& we want to say a thank you Ladies, for being oh so brave,

in leading the way forward to the E-lectronic age!
