After a first-round bye, Sam Stosur will make her first appearance at the BNP Paribas Open on Saturday against Julia Goerges.

Stosur, the 16th seed, has won just one match in five meetings with the former world No.15, who beat another Aussie, Ajla Tomljanovic, in round one.

Their last meeting came in Miami last year, which Goerges won in three sets.

Stosur’s only win against Goerges came on clay in the second round of the WTA Stuttgart event.
