Indian Wells: Stosur set for Saturday start
Sam Stosur will commence her 2017 BNP Paribas Open against German Julia Goerges on Saturday. Nick Kyrgios teams with Nenad Zimonjic in doubles.
After a first-round bye, Sam Stosur will make her first appearance at the BNP Paribas Open on Saturday against Julia Goerges.
Stosur, the 16th seed, has won just one match in five meetings with the former world No.15, who beat another Aussie, Ajla Tomljanovic, in round one.
Their last meeting came in Miami last year, which Goerges won in three sets.
Stosur’s only win against Goerges came on clay in the second round of the WTA Stuttgart event.
The match is third up on Stadium 6; the winner will face either 22nd seed Anastasija Sevastova or Lauren Davis.
Another Aussie in action in Nick Kyrgios, who will team with Serbian doubles specialist Nenad Zimonjic.
Kyrgios and Zimonjic will play under lights on Stadium 2 against the legendary Bryan brothers, the second seeds in the men’s doubles event.
