Indian Wells, CA, USA, 10 March 2017 | Matt Trollope

As Daria Gavrilova kicks off her singles campaign at the BNP Paribas Open, there’ll also be plenty of interest in Australian doubles exploits on the third day of main draw action at Indian Wells.

Gavrilova, the 22nd seed, faces Belgian Yanina Wickmayer, who in the first round overcame Germany’s Laura Siegemund.

It’s the first match of the Friday schedule on Stadium 9.

> Order of Play: Friday 10 March

Gavrilova is approaching this tournament with a sense of optimism; having fallen early last year, she has the chance to accrue points and boost her ranking with a solid performance this fortnight in California.

Also in action are the wildcard pairing of Ash Barty and Casey Dellacqua, who arrive at Indian Wells on a five-match winning streak and having won in eight of their last nine outings.

Last week, Barty and Dellacqua went all the way to the title in Kuala Lumpur and will attempt to keep their run going when they face the Japanese-Chinese pairing of Shuko Aoyama and Yang Zhaoxuan.

Not before 9pm on Friday, Bernard Tomic will team with Spanish great Rafael Nadal in a Stadium 1 showcase.

Tomic and Nadal will tackle Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta and Joao Sousa or Portugal in round one.
