Sam Stosur led 1-0 in her second-round match against Barbora Strycova on Wednesday at the Qatar Total Open before rain suspended play.

In the second game of the match, scores were locked at deuce before the heavens opened.

It is the second time Stosur’s campaign in Doha this year has been rain-affected; in the first round there were rain delays throughout her victory over Anastasija Sevastova.

Rain wiped out much of the Tuesday schedule, meaning Wednesday was jam-packed with matches and several players were forced to play two matches in one day.

Strycova was one of them – the Czech beat wildcard Fatma Al Nabhani of Oman for the loss of just three games and then returned to the court later on Wednesday to take on Stosur.

Strycova leads the head-to-head with Stosur 2-1, winning their most recent meeting in the second round of Cincinnati in August 2016.
