Few were more excited at Melbourne Park on Sunday than the Jasika family.

That was because two members of the family – Omar and Amor – were set to contest big finals of the last of the December Showdown.

First up was Amor, the sixth seed who had reached the title match of the 12/u Australian Championships.

Watched on by older brother Omar, Amor recovered from a set down to triumph over Lennon Jones to become national champion in his age group.

A few hours later, it was Omar’s turn to walk out for his match – he was facing John-Patrick Smith in the AO Play-off final, the winning prize a main draw wildcard at Australian Open 2017.

And the 19-year-old made it two-from-two for the Jasikas, beating Smith in four sets to win the Play-off.

His little brother was in the stands to watch the victory.

“I watched him (Amor) this morning,” Omar said after his win.

“A good day for my Dad and Mum, so they’re pretty happy about their boys winning.”
