No.1 seed Olivia Gadecki will face Caitlyn Portela in the semifinals of the girls’ 14/u Australian Championships after beating Natasha Russell on Tuesday.

Gadecki’s 6-3 6-2 victory continued her flawless campaign at Melbourne Park; she has dropped just 17 games in four matches so far.

Portela advanced after beating 13th seed Lara Caplin 6-3 6-0.

In the bottom half of the draw, second seed Annerly Poulos and fourth seed Krystal Clarke set up a meeting after coming through their quarterfinals in vastly different style.

Poulos – who reached the final of this event last year – dropped just two games in seeing off Cyan Sun, while Clarke was forced to battle from a set down to beat wildcard Angelina Subotic Dordevic 4-6 6-2 6-2.

In the boys’ event, Casey Hoole advanced to the last four with a hard-fought victory over fifth seed David Qariaqus.

Hoole – who was selected to represent Australia at the Longines Future Aces event in Paris during the 2015 French Open – won 7-5 1-6 6-3 to set up a semifinal battle with No.15 seed Edward Vo.

Vo overcame eighth seed Philip Sekulic 6-2 6-2.

Meanwhile, No.7 seed Chen Dong – the highest seed remaining in the event – upset second seed Kamil Adam Kozlowski in two tiebreaks to set up a meeting with 16th seed Kei Manaka, a 6-1 7-5 winner over Tai Leonard Sach.
