Eighth seed Daria Gavrilova has continued her solid form in the Asian swing, downing Katerina Siniakova to advance to the last eight in Hong Kong.

Gavrilova administered a 6-2 7-5 defeat to the Czech, booking a potential quarterfinal showdown with world No.1 Angelique Kerber.

Kerber will later on Thursday complete her rain-delayed second round match against Louisa Chirico of the US.

Gavrilova’s run in Hong Kong comes after her quarterfinal finish at the prestigious China Open in Beijing.

Back in the top 40, she stands to rise even higher after her exploits in Hong Kong.
