Rodionovas headed to Rio
Anastasia and Arina Rodionova have received an 11th-hour call-up to compete in Rio after the withdrawal of another doubles pairing from the Olympic Tennis Event.
Australian tennis sisters Anastasia and Arina Rodionova have been called up to the Olympic Games because of the late withdrawal of another team.
The Russian-born sisters will be rushed to the Rio Games and become the ninth set of siblings on the Australian Olympic team.
“Today we were notified there was a withdrawal from women’s doubles and as the first reserves, Anastasia and Arina Rodionova have now received a quota place,” Australian chef de mission Kitty Chiller told reporters on Monday.
She did not specify which team withdrew.
