Australia’s World Junior Tennis girls’ team has begun its Asia/Oceania final qualifying campaign with a commanding victory.

The team – comprising Olivia Gadecki, Natasha Russell and Annerly Poulos – defeated the Philippines 3-0 in their first pool match of Group C.

The victory was cemented thanks to straight-sets wins by Russell and Gadecki, before Gadecki combined with Poulos in the doubles to make it a perfect 3-0.

Australia faces Indonesia on Tuesday.

The WJT Asia/Oceania final qualifying competition is being staged this week in Nonthaburi, Thailand from 25-30 April.
