Top seed Bernard Tomic has lost his quarterfinal with Italian Paolo Lorenzi at the ATP Ecuador Open in Quito.

The Australian world No.20 Tomic went down to the sixth seed 6-7(5) 7-5 6-3.

Brazil’s Thomaz Bellucci advanced to the semi-finals with a 7-6 4-6 6-2 win over Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta.

Meanwhile, in Montpellier, France, ¬†Australia’s John Millman lost his Open Sud de France quarterfinal with big-serving Frenchman Paul-Henri Mathieu 7-6(5) 5-7 6-3.

Mathieu sent down 17 aces to seal the win and now faces Alexander Zverev for a place in Sunday’s final.
