Sam Stosur has advanced to her second semifinal of the season by easily accounting for Montenegro’s Danka Kovinic at the WTA’s Gastein Ladies in Austria.

The second-seeded Australian, who won her seventh career title in Strasbourg in May, won through 6-3 6-2 on Friday at the claycourt tournament in the small town in the state of Salzburg.

Stosur will next take on Slovakia’s Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, who kept her winning run going by defeating Annika Beck of Germany 6-2 6-3 a week after winning the title in Bucharest.

In the other semifinal, Italian Karin Knapp will take on top-seeded compatriot Sara Errani.

Knapp won two matches on Friday, first beating Johanna Larsson of Sweden 6-3 6-3 in a second-round match moved from Thursday because of thunder, then in the quarterfinals rallying from three games behind in both sets to defeat Slovenia’s Polona Hercog 7-6(5) 7-5.
