Olivia Rogowska has boosted the Australian French Open main draw contingent to 12 after qualifying for the tournament on Friday.

The Victorian came through a thrilling final round match to overcome Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia 3-6 7-6(5) 6-3.

It is the first time in the 23-year-old’s career that she has successfully qualified for the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament.

After coming so close to doing so last year in Paris – she lost in three sets in the final round in 2014 – it will be the first time Rogowska has contested the Roland Garros main draw in 2009.

Then, as a 17-year-old, she upset Maria Kirilenko en route to the second round.

Later on Friday, Anastasia Rodionova fell in three gruelling sets to Czech Andrea Hlavackova.

After coming through a tense tiebreak to send the match into a third set, Rodionova eventually fell 6-2 6-7(5) 6-3.
