Ajla Tomljanovic has kicked off her WTA Internationaux de Strasbourg campaign in style with a commanding first round win on Sunday.

The Croatian-born, Brisbane-based Aussie thumped No.7 seed Madison Brengle of the United States 6-1 6-1 in just 47 minutes.

Tomljanovic belted five aces and won more than 80 per cent of her first-serve points.

The victory sets up a second-round meeting with another American Shelby Rogers.

Tomljanovic’s compatriot Sam Stosur will take to the Strasbourg clay courts on Monday, facing Monica Puig in the first round.

Stosur, who accepted a wildcard into the event, is the tournament’s third seed.
