Australian Nick Kyrgios has won through to the second round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells with a straight-sets victory over Denis Kudla.

Kyrgios, playing under lights on the tournament’s premier Stadium 1 court, proved too strong for the American in a 6-4 7-5 win.

The Canberra teen slammed 11 aces down throughout the one hour and eight minute triumph, and pulled off a little magic at the net in the first set.

The win moves him through to the last 64 where he will meet 11th seed Grigor Dimitrov.

Despite having already reached¬†two Grand Slam quarterfinals in his fledgling career, the victory was just Kyrgios’ second at ATP level.
