Australia’s Olivia Rogowska has gone a step closer to a berth in the WTA Rising Stars Invitational in Singapore after heading the latest fan vote for the event.

After two weeks of fan voting – producing more than 115,000 votes for 21 eligible players – Rogowska leads the list for Asia-Pacific contenders, ahead of Kazakhstan’s Zarina Diyas.

The top two Asia-Pacific players on the voting list will be invited into the four-player WTA Rising Stars Invitational field, joining two players from the “rest of the world”.

Currently heading that voting list are exciting talents Monica Puig of Puerto Rico and Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic.

The invitational event will be staged at the Singapore Sports Hub on 17-21 October, coinciding with the prestigious season-ending WTA Finals featuring the world’s top eight ranked players.

Rogowska, currently ranked 114th, was third after the first week of voting, but vaulted two places in the latest tally.

Voting for the event closes on 3 October, with the results to be revealed on 9 October.
