Ash Barty and Anastasia Rodionova have qualified for the US Open after each won their final round matches in straight sets on Friday at Flushing Meadows.

Barty, 18, beat American Melanie Oudin 7-6(7) 6-3, coming through a tough 66-minute first set before coasting to victory just half an hour later.

Despite eight double faults, the Queenslander produced seven aces while Oudin finished with five double faults yet no aces.

It is the first time Barty has successfully qualified for a Grand Slam tournament.

Rodionova, meanwhile, had an easier time seeing off Dutchwoman Richel Hogenkamp, winning 6-4 6-3 in one hour and 13 minutes.

It marks Rodionova’s seventh trip to the main draw at the US Open, where she reached the third round in 2006 and 2009.

Barty and Rodionova’s qualification bolsters the number of Australian women in the main draw to six – they join Sam Stosur, Casey Dellacqua, Jarmila Gajdosova and Ajla Tomljanovic.
