Australia has gone down 2-0 to Ukraine in the semifinals of the World Junior Tennis Finals in Prostejov, Czech Republic.

Jeanette Lin and Destanee Aiava both had set points in the opening sets of their singles rubbers, only for their Ukrainian opponents to fight their way out of trouble and post straight-sets victories.

“I think if both girls had taken their chances in the first sets it could well have been a different story. Credit goes to the Ukraine team for the excellent performance that they displayed today,” reflected Australian team coach Craig Tyzzer.

Australia now takes on Romania in a  play-off for third place.
