Ash Barty has continued her barnstorming run through the Wimbledon qualifying event to move to within a single match win of the main draw.

The 18-year-old scored her second consecutive straight-sets victory at Roehampton, this time a 6-3 7-5 win over Ukrainian Lyudmyla Kichenok on Wednesday.

The result follows on from her 6-1 6-2 thumping of Turkey’s Cagla Buyukakcay in her opening round match.

In the final round of qualifying, Barty will face fellow 18-year-old Anett Kontaveit of Estonia for a place in the main draw at the All England Club.

Barty will join four Aussie men – Sam Groth, James Duckworth, Alex Bolt and Luke Saville – in action at Roehampton on the final day of Wimbledon qualifying on Thursday.

Play starts at 11am London time, with Saville and Duckworth first up on their respective courts.
