Casey Dellacqua has opened her 2014 grasscourt campaign on the perfect note with a comprehensive victory over Urszula Radwanska at the WTA event in Birmingham.

Dellacqua neatly dispatched the Polish player 6-1 6-3 in just 54 minutes to set up a second round meeting with American Varvara Lepchenko.

The world No.43 overcame four double faults to win an extraordinary 92 per cent of points on her first serve, and saved the one and only break point she faced in the match.

Should Dellacqua and fellow Aussie Sam Stosur win their second round singles matches, they will clash in the last 16.

Dellacqua, whose best result in Birmingham came in 2012 when she reached the third round, also won her opening match in the doubles draw on Tuesday with Ash Barty.

The reigning French Open quarterfinalists overcame a tough battle against Hungarian Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic of France, winning 5-7 7-6(3) [12-10].
