Australian Akira Santillan and Austrian partner Lucas Miedler have fallen in the Roland Garros boys’ doubles final to French pair Benjamin Bonzi and Quentin Halys.

Bonzi and Halys were too strong in the match played on Saturday on Court 3, triumphing 6-3 6-3 in 57 minutes.

Santillan, 17, enjoyed a successful week in the French capital, winning from qualifying through to the second round of the singles event and progressing to the doubles final after defeats of the fourth- and fifth-seeded pairings.

It was his first appearance in a Grand Slam final.

His partner Miedler had earlier this year teamed with another Aussie, Bradley Mousley, to win the junior boys’ doubles event at the Australian Open.
