Australians Casey Dellacqua and Ashleigh Barty have gone down at the WTA International level event in Strasbourg.

In the final tune-up event before Roland Garros commences on Sunday, Dellacqua on Wednesday went down in the second round to former world No.24 Christina McHale.

In a tight contest, the American prevailed 6-3 7-5 in 88 minutes, advancing to the quarterfinals.

On Tuesday, qualifier Barty fell 7-5 7-5 to China’s Peng Shuai, the No.7 seed.

Dellacqua and Barty remain alive in the doubles event in Strasbourg; they are currently taking on the Dutch pairing of Demi Schuurs and Eva Wacanno.

On Tuesday across in Nurnberg, Germany, Australian qualifier Anastasia Rodionova went down to second seed Eugenie Bouchard 6-0 6-1 in 44 minutes in the second round.
